AI is Finding Its Way Into Practical Applications   Featured

AI is Finding Its Way Into Practical Applications    "Sometimes you just have to look up."

Artificial intelligence (AI) is changing organizations as we know them. However, many people fail to realize the impact that this technology is having in different aspects of our lives in and outside offices. From the smartphones we use to the e-commerce systems and websites we regularly visit to purchase different products, almost all our activities are aided by AI. AI-powered applications and services are now helping us accomplish ordinary tasks like emailing, ride-sharing, etc. With the advances in this technology, we will soon use it to drive operations on a daily basis. Here are some real-life applications of artificial intelligence in real-life.

  1. Healthcare

Currently, AI and machine learning are used by businesses to make better predictions about their future. In hospital setup, AI and machine learning can be used by specialists to identify cancer in its early stages. This increases the safety of patients and makes treatment effective. IBM Watson is one of the most commonly used healthcare technologies capable of understanding natural language through natural language processing (NLP) and is thus able to respond to user queries. This system can compile a report from patient data and other available datasets in providing a confidence-grading schema.

  1. Online shopping

Customer experience has become the leading focus of every organization today. This has led to the personalization of the user’s experience. For e-commerce stores, they have not been left behind in this quest. Ecommerce platforms are the biggest implementers of personalizing the customers’ shopping experience. This is largely led by artificial intelligence applications that use AI-powered algorithms to come up with recommendations for products that a customer may want to purchase based on history. The algorithms develop a list of recommendations that fit the criteria that a customer likes viewing.

  1. Banking and finance

Different AI technologies are now being used by financial institutions like banks and insurance firms to detect fraudulent activity and other functions. Most banks already have AI-based systems used to provide customer service, prevent fraud and identify abnormal transactions. Unlike human experts, machines are efficient in processing large data volumes in a short time; thus, they are more effective in this task. Furthermore, machines can recognize data patterns based on history and forecast the possibility of reoccurring in the future.

  1. Smart cars

Self-driving cars have become a key topic as countries seek ways to improve transportation. While they are not yet properly developed, AI-based smart cars are becoming reliable and ready to be used by the day. Tesla’s autopilot feature is an example of how AI can benefit transportation and smart cars in the future. As the deep learning algorithms continue advancing, AI will finally predict the objects in the vicinity prompting action from the car.

  1. Education

AI has in the past been used in the education sector to aid the development of skills and in assessment systems. With the gains that AI has made, this technology will bridge teaching and learning gaps. AI will improve efficiency, personalization of learning and administrative responsibilities. This will give instructors the flexibility to focus and understand their learners. By combining robots and instructors in teaching, education and teaching will significantly improve learning outcomes.

  1. Gaming

Over the past one or two decades, AI has become a critical addition to the gaming industry. Video games use AI to decide the behavior of the non-player characters. It is used to establish how computer opponents act. It analyses behavior and can read the behavior of human champions and defeat them. This is a great development in AI technology that has seen computer systems defeat human professionals.
